Hey guys (and girls), it’s Jay (ComicAnalystJr) and today we are going to review Spider-Man: Homecoming! [SPOILERS AHEAD]
Tbh, (that means to be honest) I really didn’t want to go and see this movie when I first heard about it. Then I found out Zendaya was in it and was like,” Well now I HAVE to go and see it!”
Well…I went to see it and I was telling myself that I was only there to support Zendaya and that I wasn’t going to like the movie because it’s just another “reboot”. Now, here’s the twist…
I actually liked it!!! Now, don’t get me wrong, there were some things that I didn’t like (and I will explain those), but the movie wasn’t THAT bad. I semi enjoyed it.
Some things that I did & didn’t like were about the suit. I liked how it was really “techy” and looked like it was from this day and age, but it was as if the suit was doing a lot of the work.
I did not like that his love interest was Liz Allan (Laura Harrier).
I didn’t like it because we find later on (at the end of the movie) that Zendaya’s character is called MJ by her friends (even though she didn’t appear to have any). Everyone knows that MJ stands for Mary Jane (even though her name is Michelle) and that Peter and MJ fall in love and the rest is history. I just think that they should’ve had them have more chemistry or him be more interested in Zendaya’s character, if this will be the outcome. I did like the plot twist, that Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) love interest is the daughter of the Vulture (Michael Keaton).
I think this Spider-Man movie shows the before picture to the other 5 (not counting the movies that came out in the 1970’s). Tobey Maguire was a depiction of the college life/young adult life of Spider-Man. Andrew Garfield was the last two years of high school/ first years of college. Finally, Tom Holland is the first year of high school.
I don’t see comic book Spider-Man as a young teen like Tom Holland. I think the best depiction of Spidey was Andrew Garfield. Mainly because he was mature at times, but he could still be funny and make witty commentary while fighting.
Anyway, my fingers hurt now so…
Staying Short, Sweet & To The Point! This is Jay, signing off.
